When Marriage Is Hard - Part 1
We all have those days.
Maybe even weeks, months, or years.
The intimacy is gone. You feel distant and distracted. You say things that you never would have imagined coming out of your mouth, attacking the person you thought you loved most. You go to bed angry even though you have been told not to more times than you can count.
I'm not pretending to be a marriage expert. I'm the furthest thing from it. I've been married for a year and a half and have made more than my share of mistakes. Yes, I have even gone to bed angry at my husband.
There's no point in sugarcoating it. Marriage isn't always easy.
But I want you to know this, friend,
marriage is always worth it
You know that warm, fuzzy feeling? The butterflies in your stomach? The desperate need just to hear his voice or feel his arms around you? Yeah, that's not just for dating relationships, engagements, or newlyweds. It's for marriage too.
And, friend, marriage goes so much deeper than that, but we'll save that conversation for another time.
So how do you get back to that kind of love when there is unresolved conflict between you and your spouse?
Well, here's what you do.
No matter what it is, how long it's been raising it's ugly head, or how much you just want to sweep it under the rug and act like everything is fine.
Renewed intimacy is always worth it. Restored communication is always worth it. Encouraging words towards each other are always worth it. Falling asleep at night holding hands is always worth it.
Your marriage is always worth it.
