SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

Well friends, I have something very exciting (and slightly terrifying) to tell you all.

I am starting a business!

Before I tell you when, I want to give you a little backstory...

It has been a dream of mine for about five years now to start a business from my home. At first I had no idea what I wanted to make and sell, no purpose, I just thought it would be fun. Things have come a long way since then. Now I have something to create and, more importantly, I have purpose in doing that. Let me tell you about it.

Homemaking and hospitality are important to me. I have been incredibly blessed to be given the privilege of watching my mom, aunts, and grandmothers model these things in their homes every day. They have each created a beautiful home, a safe haven, where I have always felt welcomed and encouraged. And they make it look so easy.

When I got married I wanted to create that same feeling in my own home but, let me tell you, it was a learning process and it sure didn't happen overnight. I remember the first time we had guests over for dinner. I WAS TERRIFIED

. What if they don't like the dinner I made? When should I clear the table? Should I put the dishes in the dishwasher or leave them on the counter until our guests are gone? How soon after dinner should I offer them dessert? Should we sit at the table the whole night or move to the couch? Did I remember to put extra toilet paper in the guest bathroom? I've been meaning to hang some pictures on the walls, I hope they don't look too bare... Mom always made it seem so effortless, but how?!

(I'm happy to say that I've come a long way since then so don't worry, I'm not going to have a panic attack when you come over to our house. And yes, I put extra toilet paper in the guest bathroom.)

As I have learned about what it means to be a homemaker, to be hospitable, to create a beautiful home, I have discovered something. These precious virtues that a woman can possess if she chooses are becoming somewhat of a lost art in today's society. My goal is to change that.

In case you have been wondering, yes, I am hoping to earn a little money by doing this but that's not my motivation. If it was, all this work would be completely pointless.

The reason I am doing this is because I want to encourage you, friend, wherever you are in life, to pursue homemaking and hospitality. It is a beautiful thing and through it you can encourage others, show them you love them, and give them that deep feeling of comfort and security that can only be found in the home. That's why I am starting The Little Homeplace shop. That's why I am painting signs. That's why I am trusting God to take this thing wherever he wants it to go.

So without further ado...

After a ridiculous amount of prayer, research, brainstorming, sleepless nights, questions, confusion, ups, downs, blood, sweat, and tears (ok, there wasn't any blood, but it got pretty gnarly a few times), the day is almost here. I can hardly contain myself.

Are you ready?

*insert drumroll here*

I am so pleased to announce that

Monday May 11th, 2015

will be the grand opening of The Little Homeplace Etsy shop!

I'm so excited, friend. I hope you are too!

(When the shop is live in just a few days I will post a link right to it here on the blog, so be on the lookout!)
